Our philosophy

The mind and body define each other’s existence, and strenuous movement of each will lead to a healthy existence. Our focus is making strenuous physical movement fun via interval training with the Sine pumpike. Interval training/exercise involves alternating short periods of strenuous physical movement with short periods of complete rest, versus sustained moderate physical movement. The beauty of interval training is the powerfully positive effect it has on sustained moderate physical movement and brain neuroplasticity.

Please see AI commentary under "more".

Sine's story

Beginnings

The pumpbike was born of a desire to ride with my 11 year old son at the skatepark bowls, it looked super fun, he was having a blast. So dad proceeds to demonstrate that the short wheelbase(36") and quick steering of a typical bmx bike can quickly lead to painful results. The solution was to make the bike more forgiving for the skate bowls and pumptracks that were/are becoming common municipal amenities (Superior, CO, first asphalt track in Colorado).

We had to start somewhere

Using a bicycle on a pumptrack requires no drivetrain (sprockets and chain) to propel the bike around the track, rather the rider uses the radiuses/radii of the physical terrain to propel the bike. At a fundamental level pumptracks and skate bowls are optimally designed for 20 inch diameter wheeled bicycles, but the bikes themselves are designed for quick and aggressive riding and have drivetrains.  Removal of the drivetrain creates the opportunity to place the rider in a symmetrical athletic position with their feet being side by side.

Long wheelbase 20" - BINGO

The typical wheelbase (distance between the axles) of popular bmx bikes is 36", by comparison, the typical wheelbase of 26 inch diameter wheeled jumping bikes is 42". Jumping courses are basically large pumptracks with some terrain removed for airtime. Sine's solution was to split the difference and make a 20" diameter wheeled bike with a 39 inch wheelbase. Additionally, we lowered the steering tube angle (more slack) to give the pumpbike even more stability.

Design/engineering

In addition to a 39 inch wheelbase and more slack, we designed the pumpbike with enough clearance to roll into skate bowls. Pumptracks have little to no flat areas, always providing the rider with a terrain radius to pump off of. When riding skate bowls, the rider has to create their own pumptrack while simultaneously navigating flat areas.

First custom build

Regarding appearance, like a pumptrack, we wanted to minimize straight lines in the pumpike design.

Here it is - Fun fitness

The Sine pumpbike is a personal trainer and a therapist packaged together in the name of fun.

Enjoy....

Design/production montage

The Sine pumpbike is a balance bike (e.g. Strider) for adults, it has no drivetrain (sprockets or chain), forward motion is generated by "pumping" the through the curves/radii of asphalt, concrete and dirt pump tracks and skate parks which are becoming common free use amenities in many communities around the country/world.

New Frames/builds

Powder coat finish

Sine pumpbikes are powder coated with Prismatic Powders (click here to visit), we generally do one solid color or two color fades. Call or email to discuss custom color(s) for your pumpbike (see contact us below)

Unique features

Symmetrical crank arms

Symmetrical crank arms

Symmetrical crank arms

The symmetrical crank arm configuration places the rider in the "athletic stance/position", poised for action, providing the rider with an all body workout.

Disk brake

Symmetrical crank arms

Symmetrical crank arms

Sine builds a custom rear wheel to accommodate the disk brake, which is rare in the 20 inch diameter wheel world, and it looks cool.

Custom yoke

Symmetrical crank arms

Custom yoke

Our custom seat stay yoke is machined with curves and allows us to create a small angle between the seat stays and the seat post, adding to the frames overall curved aesthetic.
